Wine and Caviar with Chateau Carbonnieux and White Sturgeon Caviar

Carbonnieux Blanc paired with White Sturgeon Caviar
2014 Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc is a white wine from Pessac Leognan in Bordeaux. It is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon. Aged 10 months in barrels and wooden casks (25% new oak).
Wine and Caviar

There is still a lot of freshness with this wine. There are aromas of melon, tropical fruits, slight cut grass with a coating of minerality. On the palate some citrus appear along the soft mineral coating. The finish is mouth watering with tropical fruits and grassy grapefruit.

This is a pairing where the power of the wine is hidden in the wine's balance. The wine covers over the caviar with its tropical notes and refreshes the palate. A good Lady Elena Caviar and wine pairing.

2016 Grands Crus de Bordeaux and the 2013 Vintage with Caviar Pairings

White Bordeaux Wine with  Caviar

This week the Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux is hosting tastings across the the United States with their 2013 vintage.

There are several Chateaus that produce white wines in addition to their red wines.

White Bordeaux wines are mainly produced from the Bordeaux regions of Graves, Pessac Leognan
and Entre-Deux-Mers. These wines are mostly made from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes. Some producers will also use the Muscadell grape variety.

These wines are generally wines with freshness, grassy, tropical aromas with a medium body feel and with some depth to them. Some are made to be aged while most are made to be enjoyed over the first several year of bottling. The wines have a refreshing quality to them.

Of the several I have tasted, I want to point out just two.

The 2013 Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc is a Bordeaux value priced wine. You will find this enjoyable with White Sturgeon caviar.

The 2013 Chateau Fieuzal Blanc is a wine made to be enjoyed today as well as ten years from now. It is also very enjoyable with White Sturgeon caviar and Osetra caviar. The wine is best paired with caviar during the wines youthful years.
