Background

Ridgeview Estate was founded in 1994 by Mike and Chris Roberts and produces sparkling wines in the South Downs of England. As the French plant in Epernay, Ridgeview has planted 13 French clones of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier on three different root stocks. There in Sussex, the region has semi continental climate similar to the champagne region which is 88 miles to the south.

2013 Ridgeview Estate Cavendish Sparkling Wine from England

This sparkling is a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Those tiny bubbles help bring out the aromas of fresh flowery citrus dominating rich black fruits. On the palate it is creamy smooth with some fresh toasted bread and some subtle nuttiness. The long finish is filled with those rich fruits on freshly toasted bread.
